En realidad, Radamanthys es una manifestación de Osiris. El nombre procedería del egipcio Rot-Amenti, un titulo que lleváría éste. Los griegos, posteriormente, lo denominarían Rhadamanthus. Este tipo de afirmaciones era bastante común en las primeras generaciones egiptológicas. Cito un pasaje de Sharpe (1862):
"He [Osiris] became Judge of the dead in the infernal regions, with the title of Ro-t-Amenti, or king of hell, whence the Greeks borrowed the name of Rhadamanthus."
